I picked up Where Loyalty Lies by VK Linda Howard based on a recommendation for fans of high-stakes romantic suspense, and for the most part, it delivered.
Howard (if this is your first time reading VK Linda, take note) writes tension like a pro. The chemistry between the protagonist, ex-military operative Sera , and the mysterious, damaged heir Cole is electric from their first hostile encounter. The dialogue is sharp, often laced with a dark humor that kept me turning pages well past midnight.
