Having recently experienced a multi-day North Indian wedding (and comparing it to the customs of the South), I wanted to share a review of the key traditions that make these events so unique.
This is the visual spectacle. The groom arrives on a white horse (or a decorated car) leading a dancing procession of his family and friends. The energy is electric; drums (dhol) beat loudly, and guests throw flower petals. It is chaotic, loud, and absolutely joyful.
