Set 9 was the bridge. A single terminal flickered on residual charge. Vara cracked the log:

Vara floated through Set 7, the old nursery module. Each bolted-down cot still held a vacuum-sealed plush animal, frozen mid-tumble from the moment of decompression. Her suit lights caught a faded decal: Little Pearl — smooth sailing for little hearts.

"LS Little Pearl -14 sets-.64"

Vara closed the log. In her salvage bag, she tucked a toy rabbit from Set 7. The registry wouldn’t miss one set.

The registry said “no survivors.” But the -14 sets meant someone had tried. They’d separated the habitable segments, rerouted emergency power, and patched the hull with cargo webbing and prayer.
