For viewers who love serialized arcs, Law & Order is frustrating. You will learn more about Lennie Briscoe’s alcoholism in one episode than you will about most other characters in ten seasons. When an actor left, they were simply replaced without fanfare. There are no season-long arcs, no will-they-won't-they romances. This is a feature for some, a bug for others.
