The hood was primer gray, the right fender was a different shade of blue, and the interior smelled of burnt oil and regret. Lead-follow. He had to drive a perfect line. Too slow, the GT-R would eat him. Too showy, he’d spin out and lose.

He committed. The driver’s door window filled with the blurred image of a concrete barrier inches away. The GT-R loomed in his mirror, its headlights like angry suns. It wanted to pass. It wanted to show that old, ugly Silvia its place.

She didn't say "good run" or "nice save."
