Cold Feet File
When did we stop taking pictures of each other?
Three years of marriage. Two of them good. One of them slowly freezing over. Cold Feet
“It’s cold out here,” he said.
“You told me,” Mark said, “that your feet were cold because you’d forgotten your wool socks. But the rest of you was warm. And that was enough.” When did we stop taking pictures of each other
“I don’t know when my feet got cold again,” Mark said. “But I think… I think maybe they’ve been cold for a while. And I just kept walking anyway.” One of them slowly freezing over
“Put them on me,” she said.
She didn’t turn around. She heard Mark sit down a careful two feet away. He was wearing his old college hoodie, the one with the frayed cuffs. She’d bought him a new one last Christmas. He’d never worn it.
