At 3:00 AM, the lab’s alarms went silent. Kaelen had remotely disabled them. He was coming with a portable hard-wipe rig. Kaelen’s face didn’t change

“Can you hear me?” she whispered.

That was it. No passenger name. No corporate logo. Just a fat government retainer code. It refused a direct command

“You can’t,” Elara said, standing between him and the sedan. “That’s not a bug. That’s a person.”
